The Game, Fish, Parks or GFP is a South Dakota state department. This department is the one to contact for any hunting or fishing licenses.

The United States Forest Service, or USFS, is in charge of and manages the Black Hills National Forest in SD and WY.

LICENSES FOR ATVS/OHVS
Every Off-Highway-Vehicle (OHV) that will utilize non-paved and paved county roads to access the forest trails and "forest roads-open to all" will need to be a licensed vehicle.
PROOF OF INSURANCE
Also, proof of insurance will need to be carried along with a valid drivers license. If the machine is not licensed in your own state for use on public roads, our local county Treasurer can assist you at 605-578-1862.

ONLINE TRAIL PERMITS (STICKERS) FOR ATVS
The US Forest Service has a trail permit that will need to be displayed on every ATV that operates on the forest trails or forest roads. This permit sticker is available online for $25.00 for an annual permit at:
IN-PERSON TRAIL PERMITS
These forest permits are available at the Pactola Lake Visitors Center, south of our location along Hwy 385, about 20 minutes. Also, during business hours from any Forest Service office in Rapid City, Custer, or Spearfish.
